Program: This newly remodeled 2,210 sq ft 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath,located, in Whittier, CA. yields an industrialized modern home utilizing an existing slab, and existing retaining walls to achieve a new 2 story addition.
An exposed three tear moment frame has be inserted into the front facade for lateral stabilty, while the rear of the house has been excavated into the hill side 30 feet to the east to allow for a 15 foot expansion, and a 15 foot exterior deck that is surrounded by a green wall, a fountain feature, and a path from the deck leads up to the top of the site where a sitting area enables the viewer to see a vista of the los angeles basin, downtown, and the city of whittier, itself.
This home utulized a strick sustainable design program that includes a eco block, grey well, solar panels, fcs certified woods, and both radiant heating and thermal wind patterns, while using both ergonomic funtional and modular wood members, eliminating 62% waste.
